The Riesers™ Blog
We are ALL prisoners of our childhood, and how RIE can set us free
Putting into practice, the RIE® (Resources for Infant Educarers™) principles can help us grow into the parents our children need regardless of our past. It did it for me and can do it for you.
My RIE® journey
I am the newest addition to the Alliance of RIE® Associates. I was recently approved to join the Alliance by the RIE® board members. RIE® is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering parents and caregiving professionals to provide the secure and respectful beginnings children need for a healthy life.
The good, the not so good and the amazing of being a Nanny
Throughout my career as a nanny, I have made so many nanny friends. They have all been so kind in sharing the trials and tribulations of being a nanny, stories that range from amazing to horrifying! We talk about our experiences, in the hopes of shining a light on the childcare industry, to determine its strengths and its need for improvement.
What to look for in a Nanny?
"I recommend a peaceful, reliable person. A good nanny would be a person who is a good observer, who pays attention to your child without interfering in his play. Many nannies find it difficult to simply observe a child, feeling that because they are being paid it is their job to entertain or "do" something with one's child. It's harder to observe than to entertain. Try to find a carer who is observant, is there when needed, and gives your child lots of time to be himself. A peaceful, gentle, accepting person is best."
